On policymic.com there is an article discussing the proposed changes to New York State’s current definition of rape and a bill to change it. I very much thought the following was right on the mark:
What’s the point of compartmentalizing violent sexual acts, when they are all an act of violation? You cannot rank acts of rape; you cannot give more significance to one act of sexual violence than another. To do so is to belittle the survivors of all of these acts.
I agree. A male can not be “raped” under the definition that New York currently has. It also skews the numbers when people are looking at female sex offenders.
