Today I had something happen that has not happened in all the years I have been helping people. I am hoping it is a sign that things are slowly changing and awareness of female sex offenders is growing.
What happened? I was relating information that this person had been sexually abused as a child by a neighbor and the nurse asked me if the person was a male or female neighbor who had done it.
I thanked her for asking that question instead of just making the assumption that the abuser was male.
